Variance on a Theme (a Twofer)


We threw it all in the trunk, took our time with it, let
it rot a little, pale in the sunlight.

At your funeral they served
leftover pizza in the
old preschool room.
Nobody had planned.

We sat at tiny chairs
at tiny tables, kept our jackets on.
